An pair of “Rosie the Riveters” and their irrepressible kids unite their town when they have to repair a disabled B-17 and get it to the historic rendezvous point at Presque Isle, Maine, the night before D-Day.

Inspired by historical characters, “Winged Giants” is an epic, animated family film that is both daring and endearing.

What it’s all about

Most of us have never seen anything like it.  In World War II, America came together to roll bandages, collect scrap metal, and conserve common ingredients. And in doing so, we learned the value of sacrifice for a greater good.  No sacrifice was greater, however, than that of the American woman.  With 15 million “heads of households” fighting overseas, Uncle Sam reached out to their wives, daughters and widows for help… and the women overachieved.

Indeed, the B-17, which led the allied effort on D-Day, was primarily built by women.  And female aviators often flew these newly-minted planes to the designated air bases where they’d be deployed for battle.

But our story does more than celebrate women.  By focusing on a taboo friendship between two young war widows, their rascally kids, and an immigrant family who fled Nazi Germany for American freedom, “Winged Giants” truly refreshes our understanding of the phrase, “We Can Do It!”
